The 34th Annual Great American Smokeout is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. It was started to encourage people that were struggling with a smoking addiction to help them quit smoking. All across America, millions of Americans are participating in this event. From past smokers to those that are currently trying to quit, this day is focused on educating those about the negative effects of smoking and supplying them with the resources they need to kick the habit.
Smoking has been known to cause:
• Cancer
• Bad breath
• Discolored teeth and skin
• Lung disease
…and various other health related issues. Smokers also have a shorter life expectancy, pay higher life and health insurance premiums, and spend thousands of dollars annually to support the habit. Not only will quitting smoking save your life, it can save your health, your finances, and possibly your relationship with others.
It's already a known fact that smoking in public places such as bars, restaurants, and other public facilities is banned in Ohio. Today, you have one more reason to give up your habit. Take this step to improving your livelihood, increasing your energy level, and making strides to a better you.
If you're ready to "kick the habit" and stop smoking today, log on to the American Cancer Society for information on what steps you can take to a better, healthier you. As always, seek the council of your physician before engaging in any health altering activities.
Be healthy. Be happy. Be you.
