Make new friends at the Jersey Animal Coalition
If some of your favorite people are animals, then you may want to stop by the Jersey Animal Coalition in South Orange, New Jersey. The JAC is an all volunteer not-for-profit animal shelter, looking out for the needs of displaced animals - whether they’ve been abandoned or are strays. It is home to cats and dogs that are waiting patiently to meet a new family. If you’re considering an addition to your family, consider pet adoption.
If you’re unable to take home a new pet, but would like to spend some quality time with the residents at the JAC, you can volunteer. Dog walkers are needed to take the dogs out and also to take advantage of photo ops for the website. For cat lovers, the JAC needs volunteers to come in and spend time playing with the kitties, as a cat socializer - and to photograph them as well. This offers you an opportunity to form a relationship with a pet, even though you are unable to take him or her home. Even if the amount of time you’re able to give is minimal, the animals are waiting and available.
The Jersey Animal Coalition is also in need of donations, so that they can continue giving these animals the tender loving care they need until they meet their new families. You can even be entertained while donating to the JAC, by seeing the new movie “Hotel for Dogs” at the Maplewood Theater.
So if you haven’t visited yet, check out the Jersey Animal Coalition, and make a new friend.
