Commis only Oakland restaurant to get Michelin Star

Finally, an Oakland restaurant has been noticed by the great Michelin rating system. Commis on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland (at the site of the former JoJo) has received one star from Michelin this year, one of 39 other Bay Area restaurants to be given the great nod of approval.
Amazingly, this restaurant has barely been open a year. Its the invention of James Syhabout who has hailed from Manresa Restaurant in Los Gatos, which incidentally kept its two-star Michelin rating. He has also done stints at some of the top European restaurants with stars next to their names as well. Clearly, he has been trained by the best. We are lucky to have his expertise in a seemingly unpretentious and delicious Oakland restaurant.
