This year has thus far seen the release of many an American Idol alumni CD. The Idols are not slacking off, and the albums will continue to be released fast and furious through the end of the year.
March 10 saw the release of two Idol efforts. Kelly Clarkson released the successful and high energy All I Ever Wanted. Taylor Hicks put out his less exciting sophomore effort, The Distance.
Early May ushered in Elliot Yamin's second album, entitled Fight For Love. LaKisha Jones of Season 6 released So Glad I'm Me on May 19.
The summer was also the time of the Idols. Michael Johns's album, Hold Back My Heart, came out on June 23. July saw Brooke White's High Hopes and Heartbreak, as well as the more highly anticipated second efforts from Daughtry (Leave This Town) and Jordin Sparks(Battlefield). Season Sixer Phil Stacey even had a release in August, entitled Into the Light.
More recently, Blake Lewis slid Heartbreak on Vinyl out very quietly. Today saw the release of David Archuleta's Christmas From the Heart. The album includes such Christmas classics as "Joy to the World" and "Silent Night." This young star's impressive voice is sure to soar on traditional melodies.
Carrie Underwood's highly anticipated third studio album, entitled Play On, will be released on November 3. Her first single from the album, "Cowboy Casanova" is already out and doing well on the charts. This is her typical good humored, bad natured song that's fun to belt out at the top of your lungs and chuckle at. Carrie's albums are always wonderful, as her amazingly powerful voice is a breath of fresh air in the music industry. This is a must buy for any country, Carrie, or die hard Idol fan.
Also being released on November is the anticipated and unnamed debut album of Season 8 Idol winner, Kris Allen. Kris's album is slated for November 17, and features the single "Live Like We're Dying." Though this single was released in early October, it has yet to receive wide spread air play in the New York metropolitan area. Reguardless, Kris's smooth, soothing voice should deliver something fresh and promising.
If you were rooting for the runner up, Adam Lambert's debut album will be out on November 24. The biggest hype surrounding this album is the song "Time for Miracles," which will be included on the 2012 soundtrack, out November 10. It will be included in the movie's preview, which will intersperse bits of the movie with the music video for the song. This preview will be shown with This Is It, the Michael Jackson movie, opening on October 28. Though this will be the first song heard off of Adam's album, it has been said that it will not be his first single.
December will usher in Allison Iraheta's first effort. Though her initial single, entitled "Friday I'll Be Over You" was available for download last week, it has been taken off of iTunes and Amazon. Hopefully it will be available again soon!
