Second in a series about Live Music at the Jacksonville Fair
Entertainment at the 2009 Greater Jacksonville Fair includes some of the brightest stars emerging in music, and two concerts during the first week will please fairgoers. Jake Owen performs on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. and David Nail lights up the stage on Friday, November 6 at 8 p.m. If you’re looking for VIP tickets for these and any other performances, get them fast.
Owen (no relation to Alabama’s Randy Owen) co-wrote a number of the songs on his second album ‘Easy Does It.’ He framed a quote by Waylon Jennings and hung it in his Nashville home: “You've got to care about the music...You'd better not be doing it for the publicity, the fame or the money. And you'd sure better not be doing it because it's a way to make a living, 'cause that ain't always going to be easy. You got to believe it, believe in the music. You got to mean it."
Owen’s single ‘Eight Second Ride’ is on the Billboard charts now, and he was named one of Country’s hottest guys by People Magazine. Owen twitted fans last night he was eating a ‘lil Italian.’
David Nail’s debut album ‘I’m About to Come Alive’ just released, and one critic called it “a rewarding set that showcases his soulful, nuanced vocals.” There’s a pensive quality to Nail’s music. He thought about a career in sports when he was young, but on impulse, decided to follow the muse and focus on a music career. His single ‘Red Light’ is popular on radio and is on the Country Billboard charts at present.
Fans can keep up with Nail’s travels and appearances at his Facebook page.
Thursday and Friday also feature a variety of fun activities, like ‘Jump the Ultimate Dog Show’ and the racing pigs. On Friday, Anheuser-Busch will sponsor NovemBEER fest, with legal i.d. required of course.
The full lineup of music at this year’s Greater Jacksonville Fair offers up and coming performers and established entertainers too. Jake Owen on Thursday and David Nail on Friday are guaranteed to rock the house. Fast Ryde opened on Wednesday.
