According to the guys over at ScrawlFX, it most certainly seems so. In what looks like to be an integration of Sony's next firmware update for the PS3, the above screenshots not only hints at a new facebook application, but also hints at the ability to let PS3 owners change their gamercard colors and more.

While the PS3 already supports a web browser, giving PS3 owners the ability to access endless possibilities, including facebook, such a move proves that Sony still has some extra legs to keep up with Microsoft and their Xbox offerings, who is currently scheduled to roll out their next 360 update quite soon with a facebook application being one of their major additions.

It wasn't too long ago Sony confirmed that Netflix was coming to the PS3. The service has now gone live and is in full effect. With a few more additions and tweaks, it looks as if Sony is trying to even the playing field and go head to head with Microsoft and their Xbox 360 services.
