Obama aide admits campaign controlled media

A video of White House Communications Director Anita Dunn reveals some very upsetting news. She admits that the Obama campaign had almost complete control over what the media ran during the campaigns for presidency in 2008. She claims that almost nothing was run that they did not have control over. This is upsetting for various reasons not limited too, a severe bias in the information given to the public, a lack of freedom of speech given to the media, and an apparent government stranglehold on what is supposed to be a free media.
She claims that the reason the Obama campaign favored live interviews was to insure that no one would edit his them, that way they could determine exactly what the voters would hear. They also used web media that was put out by campaign manager David Plouffe to try and avoid talking to reporters.
Whether it was a David Plouffe video or an Obama speech, a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it,One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters. ... We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it.

This is outright disturbing for many reasons, one being this gave the media the ability to only truly criticize the opponents of the President. Sadly this is the same kind of thing that happens in many other areas in the world to ensure a victory. While this kind of media control may not be as direct as in places such as China or Iran it is still an abomination of what Americans believe. We as Americans expect to be given the chance to freely and intelligently choose our leaders without being sent to one side by a severe bias, much less one directly from government agencies.
We must be wary of things such as this as they are not what a free nation is about. The government should be scrutinized and completely observed by the media so that the populace knows the truth of what is happening in our country, to use the media otherwise makes us no better than the nations that we have gone to war with in the past. As Americans, it is our duty to protect freedom, in all forms for our people and those of the world. This is the belief our nation was founded on, why we fought the Nazi occupations in Europe, and why we still have the chance to chose our leaders, laws, and how we live our lives. Just remember that violence is not the answer to solving our political problems at home, but we must get out and cast our votes, let our voices be heard and tell the government that we will not stand for it controlling our media, healthcare, or lives.
