Next week, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) will be headlining a fundraiser for the new Virginia State Political Action Committee OurVirginiaNow. The event will take place on November 19th at a private residence in Fairfax.

This fundraiser is meant as a kick-off for OurVirginiaNow.  PAC president and former congressional candidate Paul Miller described the mission of the organization, "Our focus is to help elect qualified candidates.  There were some very good delegate candidates in this last election that needed additional resources to help get their message out.  Our goal is to help play a role in that effort."

Rep. Wilson became an overnight sensation by shouting, "You lie!" to President Obama during his health care speech in front of a joint session of Congress in September.

Wilson, who has since apologized for the outburst, was responding to the President’s statement, "There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false – the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

In that moment of passionate defiance Rep. Wilson became a hero to conservatives and illegal immigration foes all over the country.

While certainly controversial, Rep. Wilson succeeded in bringing attention to a provision in the bill that opens the door for illegal aliens to buy health insurance under the plan. He has introduced amendments to the Rules Committee to handicap that provision.

"Joe Wilson is a man of deep principles and beliefs," explained Mr. Miller. "We are excited about this event and the role we all can play in the future of helping elect good candidates who will work towards real solutions to the real problems we face here in Virginia."

RSVP’s are required before November 16. To attend or get more information please email Mr. Miller at pamillerva@gmail.com.
