
On Thursday December 3, 2009, Squaw Valley USA will be hosting a benefit highlighting the works of acclaimed snow sports photographers and videographers. “In the Mood” will be celebrating 14 years of helping raise charitable contributions to the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center and Tahoe Community Christmas. Admission to the event is free, though canned food donations are encouraged and will go to the Tahoe Community Christmas.
Showcased at the event are talented photographers and videographers from around the world. “It’s seldom, if ever, to see this type of talent under one roof,” says photographer Hank deVré, whose work is featured annually in publications of Powder, Ski, Skiing, and Ski Journal and is also the events co-organizer. “Their images are today’s forefront of snow sport photography.” At the event, the cast of acclaimed artist will include filmmakers Mike Marvin, Scott Gaffney, Craig Beck, Tom Day, Mike and Dave Hatchett, and Brad Holmes, as well as photographers Tom Lippert, Keoki Flagg, Niobe Burden, Court Leve, and Hank deVré.
This event is open to attendees of all ages and begins at 6:30 pm. Beverages will be available and a raffle with over 150 prizes will be a part of the night’s festivities. “It’s a fun party, a celebration of the coming of winter, and a great way to give back to the community,” says Robert “Fro” Frohlich, the president of Snowtribe Productions, a cancer patient, and co-organizer of the event. Some of the night’s raffled prizes include a Squaw Valley USA adult season pass and Chugach Range heli-skiing at Points North in Cordova, Alaska.
The event will also pay tribute to the late Squaw Valley resident and legendary adventurer Shane McConkey. Co-hosting will be Resorts Sports Network’s Todd Offenbacher and Tahoe TV’s Eric T. Brandt. Starting at 9pm, the evening’s after-party will be at Sandy’s Pub.
It is a night to benefit Tahoe Forest Cancer Center which is located in Truckee California and is associated with the UC Davis Health System and the Tahoe Forest Hospital Foundation, as well as the Truckee Community Christmas Inc., a non-profit association that feeds the less fortunate over the holidays. “In the Mood” is a Snowtribe Production.
