I must confess, my first glance at the diet book Skinny B*tch did not leave me with the impression I was looking at a book about eating. I thought it was a fiction book aimed at women. What I found was a book aimed at a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle with more than a hint of Fit for Life thinking lurking in the background.   Authors Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin have written several best sellers in their Skinny B*tch series and thanks to a boost from Posh Beckham (after she was seen publicly clutching a copy of said book) seem poised to make vegan eating stylish as well as well…posh.

Ms Freedman hails from a background as a former agent for Ford models and Ms. Barnouin holds a Masters in Holistic Nutrition; does this give them the where with all to help you discover a way to eat healthy?  Well I’ll have to let you decide. Like the Fit for Life books, they suggest that you avoid eating anything other than fruit during the first half of the day. According to their nutritional understanding, your body uses the hours after waking till noon to ‘clean house’. If you eat more solid fare in that interval, you overtax your digestive system and can wind up with irregularity and other weighty issues.

The two ladies admit they didn’t really want a ‘real’ job, but did want to help people stop eating crap as well as advance the cause of protecting the lives of animals who are a regular part of the food chain. They propose putting together healthier meals sans meat as a means to keep you trim and the moo/chicken crowd alive and well. They claim a host of actors, models and athletes as successful skinny clients and you too may find their advice useful. Their book sports a number of studies and reports to back up their facts, so if you’re in the market for a vegan diet plan, this might just be the fare for you!
