Shine your light!

As the dawn of a new day quickly approaches and the promise of another week is upon us, how will we shine our lights for the world to see? Do you think your existence is here randomly? Are we nothing more than a cosmic coincidence? Absolutely not! We were here a millennia ago and we are still here today. The only difference is the mortal vehicle we “drive” around in. Our spirit, our soul, is the light we shine for all to see.
Have you ever been around someone who seems to attract so many? Someone you love to spend time with because his or her soul seems to smile on everything? The people who see potential in every “problem” are those who have realized they have a light to shine! How can you realize your full spiritual potential?
Look upon your life and see where your presence is needed. Do not walk into this job lightly, for you have to be spiritually ready to shine! Clean your house; wipe your windows clean so others can witness the beautiful light that pours out of them.
What room can you clean today?

There is a saying in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous which simply says  “Fake it ‘till you make it”.
What does this mean? It means acting the part. No, I don’t want you to get facial implants so you can smile 24/7. I want you to begin feeling grateful in the face of adversity. When you feel you have nothing left, that is when you must find all you have! When you come home to a dirty house, I want you to thank Spirit for having the opportunity of even having any dishes to get dirty……to be thankful for that dried egg on the plate you have to take off with a jack hammer! That dirty sink is a sign of your bountiful pantry. When you get angry at the black handprints on the wall from your housemates , children or spouse, I want you to thank Spirit for having a home of people who care and love you, no matter how mischievous they may be!

Last week, Spirit had to remind me of how blessed I am. My partner’s minivan broke down. Like many of us all, money is extremely tight and we were both worried about how much this was going to set us back. Before I began worrying about finances, I first thanked Spirit for my partner getting home safe that night! She was on her way home from work at 7 p.m. Now, she usually works until 11 p.m., but that night, she decided to come home a bit early. What a miracle that was! I was so glad she had not been stuck out there in the middle of the night! We have AAA and she was able to call a tow truck. All the way home, this wonderful driver spoke of his wife and children and how full his life was, reminding her what is truly important. She actually had a smile on her face when she came home because this driver was shining his light!
The next day, we had to try to drive the van in. Thankfully, we have two cars….more than most! As I followed her through the first intersection, the van died and we were able to pull into a parking lot on the side of the road. That van coasted right in, so we wouldn’t have to sit on the side of US HWY 19, one of the most dangerous roads in Florida. I was thankful! We called the tow truck driver AGAIN and, after 50 minutes, we were on our way to the mechanic. The weather was beautiful. I had to remind myself to stay grateful, that at least we did have another car.
When we are faced with so called “problems” we have to take a step back and try to find the lesson in it. “Problems” are merely “Opportunities for growth!” Oh goody……. I get to grow some more.
When all was said and done, the damage was not as bad as it could have been and, even thought we had to put our Christmas shopping temporarily on hold for a few more weeks, we are able to cover the cost of the repairs; although we are awaiting a paycheck to do it. It wasn’t easy, and I did worry, but I made sure I had a reassuring smile on my face for my partner. I made sure I told her that I was grateful she was safe and well and that the van can be fixed. Even at times when I didn’t feel so grateful, I acted as if.
And you know what? After a while, it was no longer an act! I was truly feeling the gratitude.
Faking it ‘till you make it isn’t foolproof by any means, but it is a start. Try it today and see if it doesn’t change your mood after time.
When we are truly grateful, our lights shine brighter than before! Shine on Lightworker!
