It's that time of the week again and I'm here bringing you the latest, up to date music news. With the AMA's coming up and the Grammy Nomination Announcements on the way, everyone is sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for any word. Here's what I've got on your favorite artists and the music business.

Sir Paul McCartney will receive the Gershwin Prize for Popular Music. He is being recognized for his work starting with the Beatles covering all music through his solo career. McCartney will be the third songwriter to have the pleasure of receiving this prestigious award presented by the US Library of Congress. In celebrating the award an all-star tribute concert will take place will McCartney performing. The concert is planned to be held in spring 2010. After finding out the news, McCartney had this to say, "As a great admirer of the Gershwins’ songs, I am highly honored to be given the Gershwin Prize by such a great institution as the Library of Congress."

The AMA Update: Janet Jackson has been confirmed to open up the yet another awards show with a "special opening performance." Whitney Houston has made AMA headlines with her receiving the International Artist Award. She will also take the stage at the AMA's to sing "I Didn't Know My Own Strength," for the first time in 10 years. New presenters in line for the AMA's include, Disney's Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, Kristen Bell and Colbie Caillat. And last but not least, Timbaland will perform his vampire-themed song "Morning After Dark" with his two collaborators Nelly Furtado and SoShy.

As of today, November 20th, there is no new information on the Performance Rights Act.

One of the biggest contracts signed this week was between EMI and Hulu. EMI has agreed to distribute it's concert footage and music videos on the popular video website. The launch of  the content began yesterday with Norah Jones performing songs from her new album, "The Fall," in a New York concert. EMI had this to say about the merge, "We think Hulu is an excellent, high-quality environment and a great place to connect with fans. We look forward to making more content available from other artists as well." All videos and footage will be from EMI labels Virgin, Capital, and Blue Note. For more information click here

The Westheimer Block Party is a once a year rock fest that takes place in Houston on Westheimer by the Montrose area. This year was booked with tons of acts at 4 different venues including Mango's, Numbers, Austin Layne and Helios. According to the Party's website, this year for the last year that it would be called the Westheimer Block Party. That in fact, the next time the party returns it will go by the name Westheimer Street Festival. The good news is that the reason for this change is simply because the party has become to big of an attraction to the community. Chron.com covered the event and saying "...the WBP reaffirmed my belief that Houston has a wealth of diverse, dizzyingly talent, world-class bands. It's just a shame more people aren't paying attention."
