Independents aren’t so happy these days
Rasmussen reports President Obama’s Presidential Approval Index fell to -2. That is Obama’s lowest rating to date and the first time the Presidential Approval Index has fallen below zero for Obama.
The tracking Poll shows that 32% of the nation’s voters strongly approve of Obama’s performance and 34% strongly disapprove. Rasmussen’s Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve.
Obama’s poll numbers began falling to earth as the Obama Presidency reached the 100-day mark, but slowed after the Presidential Approval Index hit +4.
‘White House officials suggest the president’s rhetoric shouldn’t be taken literally’
President Barack Obama made another promise this week that you can take to the bank. Well, you can take it there, but forget about cashing it. Like so many of Obama promises, it’s just another lie. Speaking to the American Medical Association Monday, the president insisted that his health care plan will let Americans keep the coverage they have:
“No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people. If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”
It sounded so nice, he said it more than twice:
“If you like what you’re getting, keep it,” Obama said. “Nobody is forcing you to shift.”
As with much the prevaricator-in-chief says, those periods he punctuated his assurances with have morphed into commas, followed by a lot of buts, howevers, and excepts.
Legislation the Obama administration and the Democrat-controlled Congress are conspiring on would make radical changes in how Americans pay for their health care. In their attempt to put the brakes on cost increases and extend coverage to the nearly 50 million uninsured, the Dems will force employers to rethink the health plans they offer to their employees.
Things don’t look so good for the Democrats with the One in charge
Yup, it’s that time again. Short version: the DNC beat the RNC last month, thanks to a Presidential fundraiser; but the NRSC actually raised more money last month than the DSCC; and the DCCC raised only about 200K more than the NRCC. While the cash-on-hand edge for the GOP is less than it was last month’s, it’s because the Democrats are still not retiring their debt, which is 4x the GOP’s.
| Group | Raised | CoH | Debt |
| RNC | 5.82 | 21.55 | 0.00 |
| DNC | 8.37 | 12.14 | 5.60 |
| NRSC | 3.50 | 3.70 | 0.00 |
| DSCC | 3.45 | 4.00 | 4.17 |
| NRCC | 3.24 | 3.73 | 4.00 |
| DCCC | 3.44 | 5.01 | 6.67 |
| GOP | 12.56 | 28.98 | 4.00 |
| Democrats | 15.26 | 21.15 | 16.44 |
Compare to last month’s:
| Raised | CoH | Debts | |
| RNC | 5.76 | 24.38 | 0.00 |
| DNC | 4.52 | 9.09 | 5.42 |
| NRSC | 2.93 | 2.65 | 0.00 |
| DSCC | 3.13 | 2.63 | 4.58 |
| NRCC | 2.23 | 3.69 | 5.00 |
| DCCC | 3.05 | 4.03 | 7.33 |
| Raised | CoH | Debts | |
| GOP | 10.92 | 30.72 | 5 |
| Dem | 10.70 | 15.75 | 17.33 |
…and the Democrats can take some comfort in knowing that the President can personally bring in the cash. That’s the only good news for them from last month, though. Their Congressional and Senatorial committees should both be doing much better against the GOP versions than they are; in fact, they are in some ways in much the same position that the GOP was at this time in 2007.
Clinton did it first, but Obama wants to declare himself first.
Remember how no White House Easter Roll had been streamed on the internet until Barack Obama got to the White House, even though George Bush had done the same thing?
Remember all the other examples of Barack Obama declaring something a first, despite George Bush, Bill Clinton, or some other President having done it first?
Well, news comes out today that the census will ask about same-sex marriages next year.
This is “a first.” Well, to be precise, no state had same-sex marriages in 2000. But the Obama administration is spinning it as another first. Except, it is not really. The 2000 census asked about same-sex partnerships, the only thing that existed at the time.
