A jury of six military officers at Guantanamo Bay reached a split verdict Wednesday in the war-crimes trial of a former driver for Osama bin Laden, clearing him of some charges but convicting him of others that could send him to prison for life.
Salim Hamdan, a onetime driver for Osama bin Laden, had been charged with conspiracy and providing material support for terrorism. Hamdan was accused of transporting missiles for al Qaeda and helping Mr. bin Laden escape Afghanistan.
Hamdan was captured in November 2001 in Afghanistan by militiamen under American command. He faces a maximum life sentence.
I'm sure there will be an appeal.
