Following former county administrator Kirby Bowers' resignation in April of this year, many Loudoun residents wondered who would fill the spot he occupied for the last 17 years. Six months later, the answer has finally been found. Loudoun County welcomes its newest administrator, Tim Hemstreet, a former assistant city manager from Miami Beach (FL).
While he may hail from a fairer climate, Hemstreet is no stranger to the region, growing up in Northern Virginia and earning both a bachelor's and a master's from James Madison University.
The new administrator needs to hit the ground running, as the county has numerous issues to tackle, including dropping real estate prices and other budget shortfalls that prompted the county to redistribute finances from the reserves school board officials had set aside for projected shortcomings in the 2011 fiscal year.
Hemstreet's term is set to begin on December 7th. Until he assumes control, Linda Neri will hold her post as interim administrator, a post she has held since Bower's resignation.
