In a time of ever increasing negativity, Loudoun county can at least be proud of one man: Frank Wolf (R- VA). Wolf's dedication to the county can be seen in numerous capacities, most notably his commitment to improving traffic congestion throughout the DC metro region.
What often goes unmentioned, however, is his commitment to his job. Since 1990, Frank Wolf has missed just 129 out of over 12,300 votes (less then 1%). By way of contrast, current President Barack Obama missed over 300 votes out of just 1300 (24%) from a time period between 2005 to his resignation in 2008 to pursue the presidency.
Wolf's commitment is not simply to his own constituency, however. He has recieved a Grade of "A+" from Darfur Scores.org, a non profit agency that rates politicians on their commitment to raising awareness to and ending the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan. He has made several personal trips to the region, as well as to Tibet, where he also seeks to end injustices. Even more impressively, he has walked the the thin line that so many other politicians are unable or unwilling to do: crossing party lines. This has also encompassed frequently co-sponsoring bills brought forth by members of the opposition party.
Serving his post diligently, effectively, loyally, and with intergity, it's plain to see why he was easily reelected to a 14th term, even in a region that has gone blue recently.
UPDATE: Frank Wolf's commitment to human rights throughout the world is still on display as he drafts a letter urging the president to take matters into his own hands, and seeks to bar US lobbyists from representing the Sudanese government. His most recent news release can be found here and includes the complete text of his letter to the president.
