Broadway and off-Broadway theatres have dark nights--usually Mondays do not have performances as a day off for the actors in Broadway shows. However, be sure to read your tickets!! Lately, theatres have caught on to the dark night dilemma, and in turn, present a show on Mondays and rather, go dark on Tuesdays. With that day change also comes a time change. Check your theatre, show and ticket, but in general, Monday night performances are at 7pm. Mary Poppins has Monday and Wednesday nights at 7pm, while Sunday performances are at 1pm and 6:30pm. Don't be that patron who comes one hour too late because you didn't read your ticket carefully!
New World Stages has Saturday performances at 4pm and 8pm for some of it's various shows...be sure to check which show you have a ticket for! Sunday shows, also, are at 3pm and 7:30pm. If you're there to see Naked Boys Singing or My First Time, however, be advised that the show times are 10:30pm and 6pm(for Naked on a Friday and Saturday, respectfully) and 10pm (for My First Time on a Friday). Check out a New World show at one of their non-conventional times and beat the lunch and dinner crowds to get a great meal at a New York City restaurant prior to show time!
In general, the rule is that Monday is dark. However, if you're interested enough to get a Monday night ticket, double check the show time! This is a warning in advance so you don't miss any part of the show you probably paid top-dollar for!
