Edward Norton will be a busy man this weekend. He's running the New York City Marathon. And he's running with a purpose, the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. They're seeking to raise money to preserve the biodiversity of Kenya and Tanzania, and they're also trying to raise awareness. That's where Norton comes in.
Edward has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, and stayed at the lodge run by the Trust at the base of the mountain. It was from his time spent there, among the Maasai people, that he got the idea to run the marathon. The Maasai do plenty of running in their everyday lives, and two of them will be joining Norton in the marathon.
About 30 other people will be joining in the cause, including celebrities like Alanis Morissette and David Blaine. So far, they've raised almost $500,000.
If you're interested in running a marathon, whether it's for yourself or an outside cause, you can check out the Chevron Houston Marathon happening in January.
