Today, there are more people than ever going into business for themselves. One of the downfalls of starting a business may be start up capital. Many entrepreneurs are on a budget, especially with today’s economy, so I have put together a list of tools that are cheap or free to help you utilize technology to maximize your business.

Market using Social Media-Twitter, Facebook and Linked In are the top three social media musts. You can expand from there once you get your bearings. There are over 130 other sites to choose from and by the time you read this it may be more than that. (If you would like a list of social sites to get you started, email me at shar@sharspeaks.com. Please put ”Social Sites” in the subject line)

FTP programs (File Transfer Protocol)- FTP’s allow you to transfer large files to others quickly and easily. A couple of FTP programs to choose from are IPSwitch, YouSendIt, and getdropbox.com. There are many others available and can be found by searching for FTP sites on your favorite search engine.

Video messenging- This takes email to a whole new level. Instead of typing an email why not send your message in a video. There are many services today that can help you do this. Hello World, and ooVoo, are just two.

Teleconference and Webconferencing- WebEX, iLinc, Freeconferencecall.com, simpleevent.com, HelloWorld, and more. A great way to get your message out to hundreds of people all at once. You can reach the masses in one tele or web conference.

Converting voice messages to email and text- Jott.com, Quick Voice Pro, Phone Tag, and Yap are a few services that allow you to turn a voice message into a text or email. This saves you time and helps to get your thought documented while it’s fresh in your head.

Remember two of the best free resources out there are sba.gov and score.org. Check out all these resources and more to make the most of your small business.
