Devouring the bowl of leftover Halloween candy, the calendar stares you down and the panic attack sets in. How could it be November ALREADY? Didn't the warm sunshine of summer just end as you gleefully returned your kids to school clad in all those new back-to-school clothes and outrageously expensive sneakers? With the onset of winter, not only do you have to worry about the do's and don'ts' of hand-washing, coupled with the fears of H1N1, now you have to actually plan the holidays! Shopping, traveling and out-of-town guests...how are you going to get it ALL done? Why not go easy on yourself this holiday season and spend the holidays relaxing at a nice quiet Bed and Breakfast while someone else takes care of the holiday rush? I'll give you a moment here to imagine the tranquility of the holidays spent by yourself at a luxurious inn. Hello? You there? Sorry to interrupt your imaginary massage, but welcome back to reality. Even if you can't afford to spend the season relaxing by yourself, perhaps you can make it more enjoyable and spend an evening out for a nice romantic dinner with your significant other. Or, by splurging for Thanksgiving dinner with your kids at a beautiful inn. The first on my list this holiday season is the award-winning NH getaway, the Bedford Village Inn.

The Bedford Villiage Inn in Bedford, NH is offering a traditional 5-course Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving, November 26, 2009. With appetizers like Pumpkin Tortelloni (with toasted chestnuts, nutmeg cream and crispy sage) and Shrimp and Potato Cake (served with petite greens and saffron aioli), you won't miss Aunt Mary's cheese log roll and ritz crackers. Other items on the menu include everything from free-range turkey to atlantic salmon and pheasant breast to squash risotto. Make sure to save room for dessert. Or, in my case, scan the dessert menu first and order your meal accordingly. Pumpkin Cheesecake with whiskey sauce and candied pecans is sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Besides, the kids really won't miss that extra present you could of spent your holiday bonus on. Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 12 noon to 6:30 pm. The cost is $55 per adult and and $29.95 per child under the age of 10. Don't forget to budget for a 20% service fee and the 9% NH tax. Reservations are required.
