
The Men Who Stare at Goats
A hilarious comedy partially based on a true story, with bizarre events occurring in Iraq where a US special agent, Lyn Cassady,played by Academy Award winner George Clooney, Syriana (2005), is on a mysterious mission along with reporter Bob Wilton, played by Ewan McGregor. The New Earth Army is using new ways to fight the war by using psychic ways in order to monitor the enemy, but when the founder of the program Bill Django, played by Jeff Bridges, has gone missing, Cassady and Wilton will try to find him. Two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, American Beauty (1999), The Usual Suspects (1995), plays Larry Hooper, a psychic who keeps Django to a clandestine training camp. The reporter now is trapped between Django’s New Earth Army and Hooper’s military. The movie is based on Jon Ronson’s book The Men Who Stare at Goats, and along with its uproarious humor, it is a movie that will give some answers about the war against terrorism.

A Christmas Carol
The new movie from Walt Disney Pictures is an animated adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel, A Christmas Carol. Directed by Academy Award winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, Forrest Gump (1994), who wrote also the screenplay based on the classic novel. Zemeckis fully captures the fantasy and the tale’s magic essences through the 3D technology. The actors performed while wired and afterward their images are transformed into an animation. Some of the cast performs multiple roles where Jim Carrey plays four different roles: “Scrooge”, as well as the three ghosts, “Christmas Past”, “Present” and “Christmas Yet-to-Come.”

Collapse is a political documentary of a former Los Angeles police officer, Michael Ruppert who turned independent reporter. Directed by Chris Smith, the documentary interviews Ruppert where he talks about the current issues, he is skeptic about United States, and shares his political views and opinions about the economic crisis. In 2006 Ruppert in fact predicted the current economic crisis where with his prophetic mastermind he talked about “peak oil” and mortgage crisis. Collapse is a great documentary that will answer some questions, and at the same time it might create new ones. But nevertheless,with Ruppert’s apocalyptic opinions it gives a full cover for some of the most important issues that we deal today , where Smith allows the viewer to draw their own conclusions.

The Box
Warner Bros. Pictures presents The Box directed by Richard Kelly, a suspense/thriller film about a couple, Norma and Arthur played by Cameron Diaz and James Marsden who receive a gift by a mysterious stranger who appears on their doorstep, played by Frank Langella, a wooden box that offers either a million dollars or takes someone’s life.

Precious
A touching story about Precious, a 16 year old teenager, pregnant for the second time with her father’s child, and was also abused by her mother, played by Mo’ Nique who receives Oscar Buzz for this role. Precious enrolls to an alternative school where a school teacher played by Paula Patton, helps Precious, and gives her hope. The film is directed by Lee Daniels and is based on the novel by Sapphire. Precious is played by Gabourey ‘Gabby’ Sidibe and Mariah Carey also joins the cast where she gives an exceptional performance playing Mrs. Weiss.

The Fourth Kind
Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, The Fouth Kind is a science fiction/thriller in which Milla Jovovich portrays Dr. Abigail Tyler, a psychologist who starts videotaping different patients until she finally discovers disturbing evidence of alien abductions in Nome, Alaska.
