Looking across Victoria Harbor to the Star Ferry and on to Hong Kong Island.

A fun way to see Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong is to take the Star Ferry.  The Star Ferry travels from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island and back and, as it runs every few minutes, you never have long to wait to hop aboard one.

Taking the Star Ferry in Hong Kong is as easy as walking down to the Central Pier on Hong Kong Island or Tsim Sha Tsui Pier on Kowloon, paying for a ferry token and waiting for the gates to the ferry to open so you can climb aboard. Riding the Star Ferry is also a cheap way to get across Victoria Harbor.  If you ride on the Upper Deck you pay around HK$2.30 (29 US cents)and, on the Lower Deck, only HK$1.80 (23 US cents).  A couple of times, I went all the way across then immediately came back again, and then went again, it was so cheap.

I also liked riding on the Lower Deck the best as it seemed more tourists were on the Upper Deck with more Hong Kong natives riding the Lower Deck of the Star Ferry - a more authentic Hong Kong experience.

The Star Ferry was recently named by the Society of American Travel Writers as one of the "Top Ten Most Exciting Ferry Rides". How cool is that?
