After knocking off the Western Conference-leading Colorado Avalanche on Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks (8-7-0) hope to score a win over one of the Eastern Conference's elite teams in the New York Rangers (9-5-1) tonight at General Motors Place before departing on a five-game road trip beginning on Thursday.

It was an effort that even the members of the Canadian Armed Forces would have been proud of. On Sunday against the Avalanche, on a night the organization paid tribute to the brave men and women who serve our country, the Canucks turned in a masterful performance on the defensive end of the ice limiting the Avalanche to just 18 shots and a handful of quality scoring chances en route to a 3-0 shutout win.

The biggest question facing the Canucks now is which team will show up tonight against the high-powered offence of the New York Rangers. The Canucks hope it will be the team that held the Kings to one goal last Thursday and the one that blanked the Avalanche on Sunday, as opposed to the team that surrendered five goals on home ice to the Red Wings a week ago or the one that gave up a whopping seven goals to the Ducks this past Friday.

Being at their defensive best will be even more critical for the Canucks after they learned earlier on Sunday that they will be without the services of sniper Michael Grabner indefinitely after the Austrian suffered an ankle injury during the pre-game warmup and was made a late scratch against the Avalanche. The Grabner-less Canucks will be facing off against a Rangers team that will be bringing in all their top guns tonight, including a name very familiar to Canuck fans in former Wild Marian Gaborik.
