San Marcos, CA- In an epic race that included NAIA power houses like # 5 ranked British Columbia, #7 CSU, San Marcos, and #12 ranked Simon Fraser raced for the A.I.I Championship Nov. 7th at CSU, San Marcos; CSU, San Marcos came across the finish line as the winners of a close race. Beressa, of CSU, San Marcos came across the finish line with a time of 24:14, winning the race; followed by Friesen, who finished 2nd, with a time of 24:15. With Edwards coming in at a distant 3rd with a time of 24:42. Beressa time is a new record for CSU, San Marcos breaking Juan Mejia record by one second that was set back in 2007. What a race for the ages for CSU, San Marcos who had to contend with the elite teams in the NAIA for the title of A.I.I. Championship. What better way to prove to the rest of the Country that CSU, San Marcos is an elite Cross Country team to recon with.

CSU, San Marcos barely out lasted Simon Fraser by a score of 39 to Simon Fraser's 41 points followed by British Columbia in 3rd place with 44 points. According to cross country NAIA rules the team with the lowest score wins. Steve Scott, CSU San Marcos's coach, was named the A.I.I. cross country coach of the year by the NAIA right after the offical scores was announced. With the win CSU, San Marcos earns an automatic berth in the Nationals of NAIA November 21st in Vancover, British Columbia. In which CSU, San Marcos's Cross Country team looks to prove itselve once more as an elite team and a team to be reconed with as time runs out with the NAIA and the NCAA races come to be. As time goes one CSU, San Marcos has become a college school that is the team to beat once the track has been entered during the Fall semster of school. How else could you show your dominace as an athletic school as to show it in sports, as well as in academics that is required for all student athletics at CSU, San Marcos
