
This is a Sci-Fi action adventure film about the world coming to an end. The world is said to come to an end on December 21, 2012 according to the Mayan calendar. A researcher makes contact with his double in a parallel universe when he opens a portal into this other reality. He does this in an effort to prevent the catastrophic prophecies of the ancient Mayan calendar from coming to pass. A divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) employs his knowledge of the Mayan prophecies to ensure the survival of the human race. The chaos begins when the world is thrust into a global cataclysm. Roland Emmerich who was the master mind of such films as Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, wrote, produced, and directed this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller.
This movie has already caused a scare with some people on facebook and twitter. Some people were asking if anyone really believed that the world was coming to an end in 2012. It sparked a conversation about belief in God. According to some of the comments, there were a few who believe 2012 will mark the end of the world, some said maybe and others said no way.
