Here’s one that might be a shocker: according to a new poll among British tourists, France is the most unwelcoming country in Europe.
France’s haughty reputation is not truly warranted, but British travelers say they’ve had more unpleasant experiences across the English Channel than anywhere else in Europe.

According to a poll carried out by http://www.OnePoll.com, more than three-quarters of some 3,000 British travelers had something negative to say about interactions with their French neighbors. Of course, some nasty history between the two European powerhouses might have something to do with that.
Other nations topping the list include Germany in second, with Belgium third, followed by Spain and Turkey. Holland came out on top of pleasant interaction among travelers.
A spokesperson for the polling company said there are some obvious reasons behind the numbers: “A surprising number of people have experienced rudeness from French people. But this could be for a number of reasons. The language barrier is still a major problem as the majority of people who travel to France can't speak the language. And our perception of the French not liking us very much is also bound to cause friction from time to time. On the upside Holland came out very well in the poll. Brits seem to appreciate the laid-back Dutch way of life.”
Despite the numbers, France remains the world's No. 1 tourist destination, so they must be doing something right.
