You don't have to be a biblical scholar to understand the meaning behind "Acts 29 Quarterlies," the title of a group of church pastors that meets four times a year, in St. Louis and around the world.

But you might, at least, need to know how many books are in The Acts of the Apostles. It stops at 28... and picks-up, again, Tuesday, at The Journey's Tower Grove Campus on South Kingshighway.

Admission is free, and includes lunch. No word on whether, like their predecessors, participants will be serving loaves and fishes.

According to the website acts29network.org, "Acts 29 is a network of pastors from
around the nation and world whose dream is to help qualified leaders called by God to plant new churches and replant declining churches."

The "vision" statement from that same website reads "The Mission of the Acts 29 Network is to band together Christian, Evangelical, Missional & Reformed churches, who, for the sake of Jesus and the gospel, plant churches across the United States and the world."

Steve Benke, lead pastor at Jefferson Hills Church in Imperial, Missouri, said, "The purpose of this organization is to promote and support new church starts. Over one-hundred pastors and church planters will gather from all different Christian backgrounds. This the place where the newest churches in the bi-state area are coming together to learn together."

The website for the church known as The Journey, journeyon.net, lists the agenda for the Acts 29 Midwest Fall Quarterly. It will feature a presentation titled "Gospel Communities on Mission with Jeff Vanderstelt."

The description reads, "The purpose of the Church must be centered on the mission of God as expressed and commanded by Jesus Christ. In this session, we will look at the thrust of the Church's Mission to Make Disciples who Make Disciples, leading to God-glorifying saturation of our cities with the presence of Jesus through His Church on Mission. Jeff will share how to develop Gospel Communities that effectively fulfill the Mission of the Church and lead to the multiplication of more Gospel Communities on Mission."

The agenda further describes Vanderstelt as "a leader of leaders and a coach and
trainer for church planters."

Acts 29 Midwest Fall Quarterlies session-2 features two options, "The Gospel Mission in the Everyday," also with Vanderstelt, and "Developing Worship Leaders," with Josh Dix. Dix is described as The Journey's worship pastor, responsible for developing music and musicians.

Journeyon.net says Acts 29 Midwest Fall Quarterly is for "all pastors, current or potential church leaders, and other leaders interested in initiating a gospel-centered, missional movement in their area."
