Openings remain for Celebrity golf event at Mystic Dunes; Celebration offers weekend clinics

There are still openings in the Celebrity Golf Shootout at Mystic Dunes Golf Club March 15-16. Among the two-dozen celebrities playing in the 18-hole scramble on Monday the 16th are Phil Niekro, Sam McDowell, Buck Showalter and Jim McMahon. Proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Pairings party is Sunday night at Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. Shotgun start on Monday is Noon. Individual player fee is $500; 4-player team is $2,000. This is a great time of year to improve your game, or introduce a family member or buddy to golf. And Celebration Golf Club has a special offer for you. Weekend golf clinics are offered for $20 for the hour-long session. Clinics alternate each weekend between full swing and short game. Times are Saturday at Noon and Sunday at 9 a.m. For $99 a month, all weekend clinics are included, along with 2 play-days with a professional, and 2 for 1 range balls. Call 407-566-1014.

The Country Club of Mount Dora starts its Thursday night businessmen's scramble next week at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. There will be food, beverages, and a team skins game. Call 352-735-4059 for more information.
