This Saturday is Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day. It's not a national holiday but hey, neither is the Superbowl and we all know what a crock that is. Now is the time to share your knowledge and skills in wrangling yeast and hops and get some homebrewing done.
The American Homebrewers Association started this event in 2004 and has been encouraging brewers to spread the craft the first Saturday of November. The event started with 964 homebrewers introducing 527 new homebrewers to the hobby and has been growing steadily ever since.
The AHA is even nice enough to put a lot of great materials online to support your own grassroots event. Check out their page for holding a successful event with lots of tips to share information about homebrewing, the AHA and more. I have picked out a few of the good links and placed them below, Including an Introduction to Homebrewing and beer style guidelines.
If anything this is an opportunity to spread the word of how great it is to pop open your own bottle of beer with friends and enjoy a day sharing our special hobby. So grab your brother, friend, neighbor, hell grab your Mother-in-law and get some brewing done. Don't forget Thanksgiving is around the corner and nothing is a better conversation starter then sharing the homebrew that you and your Mother-in-law brewed together!
