Rich Clementi says, "I'm actually peaking right now," about his fight career. But its more than just Clementi's fight career that is "peaking" this November as he makes strides in other areas of the sport.
Rich Clementi has opened a top notch program at the Mandeville Sports Complex at 23052 Highway 1088 in Mandeville, known as Clementi's Gladiator Academy. Clementi, who used to be based out of Slidell, recently made the move to a larger and more robust training facility which includes a pool, an Olympic level gymnastics training facility, and plenty of equipment for weight training and conditioning. Providing assistance Clementi on this project is professional MMA fighter JC Pennington as well as some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors from UFC fighter Tim Credeur's Gladiators program in Lafayette, Louisiana. The program caters to youth, men, and women and offers a variety of programs including women's kickboxing, mini Gladiators (7-9 years old), youth Gladiators, and beginning MMA.
Clementi also continues to fight and with a record of (33-15-1) will face Peter Duncan (4-5) in Belfast, Ireland on November 29th. Among the fighters that Clementi has beaten are Melvin Guillard, Sam Stout, and up and coming UFC star Anthony Johnson. Clementi has also coached and worked with many significant Louisiana MMA fighters and has promoted shows all over the region, including an event last year at the World of Wheels in the Superdome. Kelvin Doss, a professional fighter that Clementi trained continues to work closely with Clementi on training and promotions. Doss is now the coach of Team Envy, which has fought all over the region.
As if opening a new gym and fighting in Ireland aren't enough on his plate, Clementi continues to take on the promotions world with his next show being November 7th at the Hard Rock in Biloxi. Charlie Rader, who has been training much of the time at POWER MMA in Terrytown is in the quarter finals of the eight man 170 pound tournament in a fight against Keith Johnson. Rader said, "I'm making to the finals period. That $10,000 and that Hard Rock Biloxi Challenge Belt is mine." Also fighting that night are Reality Combat's 170 belt holder, Robert Thompson who is facing Sam Ortiz and Collin McKee and Randy Billiot, who are rounding out the Hard Rock Belt Challenge series.
