Every year I keep thinking that full motion video games are just a waste of time for gamers to develop, but I usually find a few worthy titles that prove me wrong and at least one that overwhelms me with its brilliant quality! 7th Guest is one such game, being on a system that not isn't very popular. But don't let that by any means dissuade you from playing it, as this game is one of the best CD games I have ever played! Heck, it is among the greatest titles I've played period! And I'm even comparing this to the best games that the SNES and Genesis, the two best-selling game systems, have to offer! No other game I have ever played delivers such a horrifying atmosphere like 7th Guest does. The graphics and animation are phenomenal and the terrifying music will blow you away! But don't think for one minute that the visuals and audio are merely bells and whistles, as they are crucial for making you feel like you're experiencing a horror movie.
If you thought Friday The 13th and the Exorcist were scary, than this game is gonna knock your socks off with its gothic environments! Oh, and let me talk about the puzzles you have to solve in this game. They truly arouse my intellect, with brain teasers that drive me wild! And they blend in just perfectly with the frightening mood of the game, as you can flip switches to see blood coming out of a heart, remove pieces of cake with skulls and stones, and a lot more! Where do they come up with this stuff! I am a sucker for a challenging, as long as it stimulates me instead of frustrates me, and luckily in 7th Guest, it's the former instead of the latter. The storyline that unfolds is better than a lot of role-playing games I've played, with mysteries to solve that even Sherlock Holmes would find perplexing! If there's one CD-I game you need to purchase, it's this one!
