Police arrested MC Hammer's cousin Bigg Marv (real name Marvin Turrell Grant) Thursday on suspicion of raping a woman he met on Twitter. He was taken into custody and arrested without incident in rural Tracy, Calif., according to a report in the San Jose Mercury News.
Police say a woman who lives in Los Angeles area came to the Livermore Police Department on Wednesday morning and said she had been raped by Grant, who is also known as Lyin' Marv on the new A&E series "Hammertime." She said she met Grant on Twitter. They firted, e-mailed, talked on the phoneand eventually agreed to meet in Livermore (near Tracy) on Tuesday.According to the report, the woman told police Grant took her to dinner at the hotel where she was staying and accompanied her to her room afterward. She said when he began to fondle her, she asked him to stop, but he held her down and sexually assaulted her. Police reached Grant on his cell phone after the woman filed the complaint and he agreed to turn himself in, according to the Mercury News, but he failed to appear. MC Hammer said the family is standing by Bigg Marv. He tweeted: Marv has been picked up. We're standing by him. Welcome to Fame Cousin Marv. We're praying for you."
He also indicated that a family member had gone to bail out cousin Marv and that he would be home Thursday night, calling the situation "pure nonsense."
