Celebrities have the right to kiss and tell, but their nannies don't. E! News reports that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis has ruled that Rob Lowe can proceed with a breach-of-contract lawsuit against his former nanny, Laura Boyce, who is countersuing for sexual harassment and wrongful dismissal.
The nanny claims Rob's wife Sheryl Lowe routinely paraded around the house naked, interrogated the nanny about the size of her boyfriend's penis and used the N-word to describe him. The nanny says Sheryl also talked about Rob's penis and even talked a little too much about her kids' penises while she was at it.
Rob claims the nanny has no right to say anything about that — or anything else that went on his home — because she signed a confidentiality agreement when she was hired. The nanny argued that the agreement violated her first amendment rights to freedom of speech and that Rob filed the lawsuit only after he discovered she had spoken with a lawyer about her working conditions.
The nanny's lawyer, Dolores Leal, said allowing Rob to proceed with his lawsuit will "send a message to potential witnesses such as Ms. Boyce that they can't talk about labor conditions or they might get sued."
The judge ruled in Rob's favor. What happens in his house, stays in his house.
For the moment, anyway. Both lawsuits will proceed. And more will be revealed, one way or another.
