Cheryl Holdridge, one of the most popular original Mouseketeers, died Tuesday at her home in Santa Monica after a two-year battle with lung cancer.
Her Mouseketeer friends Doreen Tracey and Tommy Cole were among Cheryl's visitors on Monday night, accoirding to the Los Angeles Times. Doreen told the Times:
What's amazing is that Cheryl and I have gone through so many things together, I'm glad I could have been there in the end too."
The orginal Mouseketeer roll call also included Annette Funicello, Cubby O'Brien, Sharon Baird, Bobby Burgess, Karen Pendleton, Lonnie Burr and Darlene Gillespie.
Tommy told the Times:
"I always considered her Miss Sunshine. She'd walk into the room and this ray of sunshine would happen every time she smiled."
Cheryl was 11 when she was hired for Walt Disneys "Mickey Mouse Club" TV show. She later had many TV parts, including Wally Cleaver's girlfriend on "Leave It to Beaver" and Ricky Nelson's girlfriend on "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," and guest roles on "The Rifleman," "Bachelor Father," "My Three Sons," "Bewitched" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show."
She retired from showbiz in 1964 to marry Barbara Hutton's son, Lance Reventlow, who died in 1972. She did not remarry until 1994, when she tied the knot with Democratic fundraiser Manning Post, who died six years later.
Cheryl had no immediate family survivors. Plans for the memorial service have not yet been announced.
