It was an emotional farewell for John Travolta and Kelly Preston, who kissed a large photo of their 16-year-old son, Jett Travolta, to conclude his brief memorial service held in a tent outside their Jumbolair Estates home in Ocala, Florida, on Thursday afternoon.
The Ocala Star-Banner reported that among the 100 people who attended the 10-minute service were Lisa Marie Presley, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Forest Whitaker, James Gandolfini, Kirstie Allie and Cal Ripken Jr.
Forest Whitaker issued this statement:
Our families have had a long loving friendship, and John and Kelly are amazing parents. We have watched each other's children grow and cannot imagine the loss of Jett. He was a bright and beautiful young man, and we are honored to have known him."
Outside of the gates, people who were not invited guests held an impromptu wake, including ceremonial drumming and chanting by a local member of the Creek Indian tribe.
