"Too Fat to Fish" author Artie Lange was noticeably absent on the Howard Stern show again this morning, but he's not exactly in rehab as Howard surmised on the air.
Newsday reports that Artie, whose weight had tipped the scales at 300 pounds, called Howard over the weekend and said he has been sober nearly two weeks and has lost 20 pounds.
Artie called the show and said he is being treated for liver and stomach issues and is seeing a therapist as well. He also admitted he has been using heroin even though he repeatedly had sworn on the show he was clean.
Howard wrote the foreword to Artie's bestselling "Too Fat to Fish." He said he did not realize how bad Artie's problems really were until he read the book.
Artie confirmed he will be back on the show Wednesday.
We wish him the best with his weight loss and recovery from addiction.
