Michael Jackson's allegedly abusive father Joe Jackson is now asking his son's estate to pay him a stipend of more than $15,000 a month to cover his expenses.
According to TMZ and Associated Press reports, Papa Jackson itemized his monthly expenses as $1,200 for rent on his Las Vegas home, $1,000 for groceries, $2,000 for air travel, $3,000 for hotels, $2,500 for dining out, and $50 for charitable donations.
Citing estate earnings of more than $100 million in the first seven weeks following Michael Jackson's death, the request filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court claims that the King of Pop's estate is "well able to afford a family allowance for Joe Jackson."
But being able to afford it may not be the issue. Michael Jackson's will specifically provided for money to be paid only to his mother Katherine Jackson, his three young children, and various charities. The court has approved monthly payments to Katherine of $26,000 for herself plus $60,000 for the care of the children.
Joe Jackson claims all he has to live on is a $1,700 monthly Social Security check. The court filing claims that Michael used to give Katherine as much as $60,000 a month and that MIchael instructed her to give half of that to Joe.
