"Today Show" sex therapist Ian Kerner says that David Duchovny is far from alone in his addiction to Internet porn.

"The rapid proliferation of Internet porn has brought the issue very much into the mainstream," Dr. Kerner says. 

A few facts:

More than 40 million Americans regularly visit porn web sites.

Ten percent of those admit to being addicted. 

More than half of divorce cases involve Internet porn. (See Christy Brinkley vs. Peter Cook)

It can happen to anyone who needs an escape from depression, anger, boredom or any other uncomfortable feeling, Dr.Kenner says. The problem is, "a quick click of self-gratification can escalate into a self-destructive pattern of behavior." 

Internet porn has been called the crack cocaine of sex addicts.
