
Madonna says she's "not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez" but that didn't stop his wife from filing for divorce. In the court documents, Cynthia Rodriguez called her Yankee husband an adulterer who "emotionally abandoned his wife and children."
Cynthia's lawyer, Maurice Kutner, told The Post last night that A-Rod's "relationship with Madonna was the latest situation in a series of events" that doomed the marriage.
"It's huge, it's devastating, it's life-changing," Kutner said. "It's caused her tremendous stress, and she's doing the best she can to deal with it.
"Mrs. Rodriguez feels like she's been emotionally abandoned by Alex. That's the driving force behind her decision."
Cynthia is asking for custody of the children and enough money to maintain the "lavish lifestyle" (direct quote from the divorce papers) that A-Rod's "substantial earning power" can provide. He is the highest-paid player in baseball — in the in the first season of a $275 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees, a deal that could net him $305 million.
With that kind of earning power, a pre-nup won't save that Yankee.
Bottom line: You play, you pay.
