Most moms hope their daughters' marriages will last, but Amy Winehouse's mom prays that her troubled daughter will dump her jailed mate, Blake Fielder-Civil, and hook up with her manager's assistant, cleancut-looking Alex Haynes. So say the British tabloids.

Janis Winehouse reportedly told the Sunday Mirror:

"[Alex] is a lovely boy - gentle and sweet. He really looked after Amy popping out to buy cigarettes, papers, anything she wanted.

"He works for her manager so their relationship was professional to begin with but if they've made something of it, I'm thrilled.

"Blake has sent her down the wrong path - drugs and self-harm. She needs a man she can depend on, who can look after her.

"I'm praying Alex is that man."

The Evening Standard says Haynes "has been described as a 'clean-cut mummy's boy from Gloucestershire' — the opposite to self-confessed drug addict Fielder-Civil." Still, they are not so sure the new guy is quite as squeaky-clean as he looks.

... pictures have surfaced suggesting he isn't adverse to a spot of partying.

In one photograph he is seen holding up bottles of alcohol while in another he's seen wearing a 'Cold Beer & Dirty Girls' t-shirt.

Meanwhile the Sun, which posted the crack-smoking video that got Winehouse into rehab, if only for 12 days, says the singer's friends approve of the new guy. One of them told the tabloid:

"It is a relief that it's finally out and they have everyone's 100 per cent backing. Alex is a good boy.

“He doesn't smoke or take drugs. He isn't a big drinker. Amy has really fallen for him."

We'll hold off on the victory dance. But we do hope someone or something can finally get the gifted Grammy award winner back on track.
