
U.S. District Judge Robert Patterson Jr. today urged "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling to settle her copyright infringement case against former school librarian Steven Vander Ark out of court because it's too close to call and would involve years of appeals.
"I think this case, with imagination, could be settled," Patterson said in Manhattan federal court.
The high-profile trial has already featured two days of emotional testimony, first by Rowling, then by Vander Ark, a fan who wrote an unauthorized guide to the Harry Potter books.
Too many crocodile tears. Too much money. So settle already.
