'40-Year-Old Virgin' Shelley Malil arrested for stabbing girlfriend

Shelley Malil, who played Steve Carell's angry co-worker Haziz in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," may be a candidate for some serious anger management in real life. He was arrested near San Diego last night for allegedly stabbing his girlfiend as many as twenty times.

She was stabbed Sunday night and was still in critical condition Monday morning, according to the Associated Press. Her current condition is not known.

Police who responded to reports of screams for help and breaking glass near San Marcos, Calif., on Sunday night found her with multiple stab wounds and cuts on her face. She and Shelley had recently been dating, according to authorities.

Shelley's attorney, family and friends convinced him to turn himself in, police said. Shelley was then arrested for investigation of attempted murder, mayhem and burglary and booked into the county's detention center.
