"I saw a hat being thrown from behind me and it hit Amy's beehive," James Gostelow said. "She looked down, saw me looking up, and her elbow went for me."
The 25-year-old London resident chalks it up to mistaken identity.
"She caught my forehead, then someone may have shouted something from the back, which is when she went in again," he added.
Gostelow has no hard feelings toward the singer, who is beloved by British fans despite all of her troubles. He gave the BBC his tape of the incident and said he is not planning to file a complaint.
"Not everyone can say they have been hit by Amy Winehouse," he said. "I'm just pleased I got to see her. She did a great act."
Glastonbury organizer Michael Eavis also defended Amy, saying she had appeared to lash out after being touched by a fan. To try to stay safer, she finished her set from the security pit.
So mellow out, folks. Our girl wasn't simply stoned and crazy.
