Al Green, Quincy Jones honored by BET tonight

Just listen to the one and only Reverend Al Green performing "Let's Stay Together" and you will remember why he's getting BET's Lifetime Achievement Award tonight. He is still going strong after 40 years in the music business and 30 years as beloved leader of the Full Gospel tabernacle in Memphis. His latest album, "Lay It Down," was released just a few weeks ago.

Tonight BET also will honor Quincy Jones — who has won 27 Grammy awards and been nominated for 79 — with the Humanitarian Award. Jones co-founded the Institute for Black American Music, which is creating a national library of African-American music and art. His Listen Up Foundation aims to break the cycle of poverty and violence by connecting children with education, technology, culture and music. In 2001, Listen Up built more than 100 homes in South Africa for the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

The BET Awards will air at 8 p.m.
