    Michelle Williams promotes two films at Cannes

    In her first red carpet appearance since Heath Ledger's death, Michelle Williams showed up at the last minute to promote her new film "Wendy and Lucy" at Cannes yesterday. She'll stay in Cannes tonight to promote her other film "Synecdoche, New York," a Charlie Kaufman film costarring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener, People reports.
    "It actually does feel kind of special to have two films at the same time," Williams said. "The film [Martin Scorsese's 'Shutter Island,' which she's currently filming in Boston] was sweet enough to let me come here and enjoy it."

    The actress (mother to Ledger's two-year-old daughter, Matilda) added: "[It's] something you can look back on at the end of your life and think, 'That was a cool thing I did when I was 27.' "
    Williams will return to Boston to resume work on Scorsese's film this weekend.
