Counting calories and weight loss
Now that you have a good idea how many
calories you eat daily and how many calories you burn, the object is to reduce intake and increase burn. Cut your daily calories in half. To do this you must eat smaller portions and eliminate wasted calories. Some wasted calories are fast food, alcohol, mayonnaise, butter, deserts, snack foods, soda, red meat and cheese. Simply removing these foods from your diet and cutting your portions in half will make a big difference in the calories that you take in daily. This doesn’t mean that you can never have those foods again, because you can. Just be aware that when you do, you need to make up for it by eating less or exercising more! Adding calories, means subtracting them later. Also, stop eating after 6pm to give your body time to 'burn'.
Now let’s talk about exercise. If you haven’t been exercising at all, start walking. Are you a morning person or a night person? From now on in your new lifestyle you will be spending 30 minutes every day burning calories. Find the time that works for you and dedicate that time each day to exercise. To make it fun, consider buying a
polar watch. The timer will ensure that you walk for 30 minutes, and document your heart rate as well! You can even print it out and track your progress on your home computer! Do this for one week
counting your calories.
