Top spot in the CFL West is up for grabs this weekend as the Calgary Stampeders meet the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium Saturday night.

The Stampeders are currently two points up on the Riders in the West Division. Calgary has a record of 10-6-1, while Saskatchewan is at 9-7-1.

This will be the third meeting between the two teams. Saskatchewan won the first meeting 24-23 in Calgary on August 1, and then the two teams tied at 44 on October 17, again at McMahon Stadium.

If Saskatchewan wins, this would be the first time since 1976 that the green and white finished first.

That time, I wasn't even born yet.

Here are other famous happenings that happened in November, 1976:

-- Jimmy Carter defeats Gerald Ford to become President of the United States.

-- Donovan McNabb and Steve Urkel were born.

--"Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney was the number one hit song.

--ABC's Happy Days was the top television show.

The Stamps have experience and momentum, but the Riders have emotion and home field advantage on their side.

Calgary is coming off an impressive 28-26 down-to-the-wire victory over the B.C. Lions, while the Riders' offense was very lackluster in a 24-6 beating at the hands of the Tiger-Cats last week.
