GerberasIf you're in France this Valentine's Day and want to buy a little something for your sweetheart, you're in luck: in pretty much any French town, the best place to buy flowers is at the marché. Depending on the size of your town, the "farmer's market" is held at least once a week and usually offers a great selection of flowers at reasonable prices.

In Hyères, for example, two bunches of ranuncula go for 5 euros, while a dozen roses can cost anywhere from €5 to 8. The gerbera on the right were €3.50. However Hyères might be cheaper than other places, since it's home to the largest flower market in France, which celebrates this colorful bounty in April with the annual Flower Festival.

And to make your Valentine's Day really special, why not learn how to say I love you in French?
