Stanford allowed Oregon State to shoot 62% from the floor, and lost to the Beavers 77-62 at Maples Pavilion on Saturday night.
This was a big upset as the Beavers were 16 point underdogs to the Cardinal.
Calvin Haynes, the 6-2 sophomore guard, led all scorers with 25 points and Anthony Goods led the Cardinal with 15 points.
Goods was only 5-15 from the field though and 3-12 from the three-point line.
Stanford had trouble scoring the whole night without their starting point guard, Mitch Johnson, who was once again out with an calf injury. The Cardinal had trouble with Oregon State's 1-3-1 zone defense all night long.
The Cardinal took 33 three-pointers and only made eight.
Kenny Brown and Drew Shiller took turns at point guard and they combined for only three assists the whole night.
Besides Haynes, the other key contributors to the win were Seth Tarver with 19 points and six rebounds, and Roeland Schaftenaar who had 18 points and three steals.
Oregon State led the Cardinal 16-2 to start the game, and 34-28 at halftime.
The Cardinal might have won the game if they had Johnson on the court. Although Johnson doesn't score many points, he runs the Stanford offense well, and is a very steady decision-maker.
Oregon State is now 3-5 in the Pac-10 after the win.
With the loss, Stanford is now 3-4 in the conference and will head to Los Angeles next week to play USC on Thursday and UCLA on Saturday.
