"When the principal clarinetist of the Cleveland Orchestra was to be featured playing Artie Shaw's Concerto for Clarinet, he listened to Shaw's recording of the work and said he found his playing unbelievable.

"Shaw is the greatest player I ever heard," he said. "It's hard to play the way he plays. He makes so many incredible shadings."
